www.breakjaws.blogspot.com www.Ibreakjaws.com Get all your MMA fighting and UFC news here.Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a US-based mixed martial arts (MMA) organization, currently recognized as the largest MMA promotion in the world.[2] The UFC is owned and operated by Zuffa, LLC, headquarted in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC began as a single-event tournament to find the world’s best fighters irrespective of their style, and was based upon Brazilian vale tudo fighting. Although there were a few limited number of rules, fighting in the UFC was marketed as no holds barred, and contests were often violent and brutal. Early UFC fights were less sport than spectacle, which led to accusations of brutality and “human cock fighting” by Senator John mccain and others.[3] Political pressures eventually led the UFC into the underground, as pay-per-view providers nixed UFC programming, nearly extinguishing the ufc’s public visibility. If you’ve been keeping up with things, you know that the upcoming fight of Tito Ortiz versus Forrest Griffin is not the first time that these two superlative fighters have been in the ring. It was 2006 and the scene was one most people won’t forget. Ortiz and Griffin took it to The Octagon and, as they say, the rest is history. On November 21, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, fans will be packing the house to witness Griffin’s attempt to squash “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy”.

If you haven’t been keeping up, then it’s a great time to get back into the ultimate fighting scene and get caught up on what’s happening in the UFC arena. The battle between Ortiz and Griffin marks a kick off of many great challenges coming up and you don’t want to miss a single one. After the Ortiz versus Griffin2 matchup on November 21 this years, the heavyweight division finale on December 5 is like an early Christmas present for fans that enjoy The Ultimate Fighter challenge. Matt “The Hammer” Hamill will take on Jon “Bones” Jones. Jones has the height advantage ofer Hamill by 3 inches but weights are the same, with both fighters at 205 pounds each. Hamill’s record is 8-2-0 while Jones holds a perfect 8-0-0. This promises to be an Ultimate Fighter finale that you simply must see. At a glance, Jones gives a longer, leaner appearance but the bottom line is about who walks away the winner when all is said and done.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship schedule has plenty of treats on it for those who enjoy this particular brand of fighting that combines mixed martial arts and sometimes more than just a little bit of bragging on the part of the fighters themselves.

The battle between Ortiz and Griffin on November 19 will take place at 3950 Las Vegas Blvd South on the Las Vegas Strip between Hacienda and Russell Road, the location of Mandalay Bay Resort. Many exciting events are held at the Mandalay Bay Resort throughout the year and the Ultimate Fighting Championship is no exception to the quality experience you can prepare to have at this venue. Unlike many locations which feature space for the event only, you can plan your Ultimate Fighting Championship attendance as part of a luxurious overnight stay at the resort or a weekend getaway if you wish.

Mandalay Bay Resort is one of the finest locations when it comes to accommodations and there are great many things to enjoy, in addition to the Ultimate Fighting Championship event on Saturday, November 21, without ever leaving the resort. Those who do wish to go out into the Las Vegas night will find no shortage of things to do on the strip. This 43-story luxury hotel and casino has more than a little something for everyone and after a full night’s enjoyment at the fight, you can take in dinner and whatever other festivities suit you.

The Mandalay Bay Events Center is the location for the Ultimate Fighting event this month as well as many other great events. If you are planning to attend with a group, remember that every person in attendance must have a ticket in order to be admitted. There are no discounts for children and no free admissions for any age groups. This center has also hosted the Latin Grammy Awards and is an excellent choice for getting up close to the action that Ultimate Fighting Championship matches can provide. There’s still time to get your tickets to ensure that you’re on hand in person to witness if Griffin will make good on his promise or not.

Nothing even comes close to the gut-wrenching action you can witness with Ultimate Fighting Championship tickets event. This November, the UFC championship will be held at the luxurious Mandalay Bay Events Center. Ticket America has the best seats with the click of your mouse!

The Ultimate Fighting Entertainment UFC

Posted by On November - 24 - 2009

The last decade of the twentieth century saw the rise of a new popular sport that encompassed many attributes of ancient styles of unarmed hand-to-hand combat. This newly emerged sport was first referred to as “no hold barred” fighting. With the blending of styles that included not only wrestling and boxing but also various forms of oriental unarmed combat this new sport became known as Mixed Martial Arts.

The first MMA competitions enforced few rules and included both grappling and striking movements and used both arms and legs as offensive weapons of attack. The combat between opponents was allowed whether standing or on the ground. Primarily only such tactics as eye gouging and hair pulling were disallowed and even groin punches, while frowned upon, were not illegal. With MMA being described in the news media as “human cock fighting”, it might have been a short-lived sport had it not been for the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournaments designed by the Californian Art Davie.

Davie, an advertising executive developed the idea from his association with Rorion Gracie, a teacher of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Being fascinated with the ability of these non-traditional fighters to defeat even high-ranking combatants of the traditional forms of unarmed combat, Davie developed WoW Productions (War of the Worlds). He then raised the funding for the first official MMA tournament and gained a contract with the new pay-per-view Semaphore Entertainment Group (SEG) to televise the event.

”The Ultimate Fighting Championship” aired on November 12, 2003 and became an instant hit. UFC1 drew 86,592 television subscribers who thrilled to the eight man elimination tournament that featured specialists in such diverse fighting forms as kickboxing, savate, karate, shootfighting, sumo, jiu-jitsu and boxing. Rorion Gracie’s brother Royce, a black-belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter, took the first UFC tournament crown.

With the reputation as a violent, rule-less bloodfest, MMA and the Ultimate Fighting Championship came under harsh penalties from the lawmakers of many states and was, for a while, banned from pay-per-view television and some states entirely. However, the sport began to work with various United States sanctioning agencies to develop a safer competition environment. Various holds and maneuvers were banned and time limits were set on the individual rounds. By the end of the year 2000, UFC28 made its comeback under the sanctioning of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board’s “Unified Rules”.

Opponents of this fighting sport applauded the new, restricted form of MMA as a safer sport despite the findings of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine that; “Knockout rates are lower in MMA competitions than in boxing. This suggests a reduced risk of traumatic brain injury in MMA competitions when compared to other events involving striking.” To date there has been only one fatality related to sanctioned UFC competition in the United States. This is a drastically lower rate than what has occurred in professional boxing.

Despite the troubled and controversial beginnings of MMA and the UFC, the sport continues to grow in popularity. Now televised in thirty-six countries, the UFC has grown offices in both Canada and the Unite Kingdom and are beginning to expand into the continent with the aim of creating a European UFC organization in the near future.

The UFC has recently absorbed the World Extreme Cage fighting organization and has developed corporate sponsorships that include such sports-promoting companies as Anheuser-Busch and Harley-Davidson motors.

Mma Champions Win Again in Reality Fighting ..

DATELINE: BELLINGHAM, FRANKLIN, MIDDLEBORO, MA, BUZZARD’S BAY, BOURNE,
COVENTRY, RI -

Two local Mixed Martial Arts champions each won in their weight class
recently at the Reality Fighting competition in Plymouth, MA.

In the Welterweight Title Match, Mike Campbell, a 25-year-old from Franklin,
MA, retained the title with a first round knock out over Tim Pinney.
Campbell fights at 5′9″, 170 lbs.  He graduated from Coventry High School in
Rhode Island.  While in high school, his dream was to play college football.
It was dream he shared with his father.  After his father passed away from a
heroin overdose in 2001, Campbell put aside his football plans, as it was a
passion they had always shared together. “My dad and I both loved football
and we shared the passion for the game and for me playing.  When he passed
away, I didn’t want to play anymore.”

Being no stranger to competition, and missing playing sports, Campbell was
inspired to try power lifting.  He represented the US as a power lifter at
the Power Lifting World Championships when he was 22-years-old.  From there,
Campbell found Mixed Martial Arts training at USMMA.  As a professional MMA
fighter, he has built a solid career path for himself with a 5-0 record that
includes 3 KO’s.  He holds a local title belt for the 170 lb. welterweight
division.

He is just getting started.  Campbell was chosen as the feature fighter on
the reality show “Tapout” on the Versus Network.  The “Tapout” crew has been
following Campbell and watching his training and fights that will be
featured on an upcoming episode that documents their quest for the best up
and coming Mixed Martial Arts fighters in the United States.  “It has been
kind of weird having them follow me around, but I know that this will help
take me to the next level in my career as a fighter,” said Campbell.  The
episode will air in September.

Campbell also trains with Hafers and Phinney at the USMMA facility in
Bellingham, MA.  “They always come up with a great game plan and it always
works!” he said.  “Tom and Matt are there for me 100 percent.  They have
helped me to develop, not only as a fighter, but as and individual, as
well,” he added.

Also retaining a Championship Title that evening was Greg Rebello of
Middleboro, MA.  Rebello fights in the Light-Heavyweight division at 6 feet,
205 pounds.  Rebello won the fight 4 minutes and 10 seconds into the first
round with a technical knock out to Eric Brown.  It was a huge win for
Rebello as Brown had been his first and only loss to date.  “This win was a
big stepping stone for me.  I moved up in the rankings, but winning was
better than the rankings.  A main goal of mine was achieved with this win!”
said Rebello.

Originally from Buzzards Bay, Rebello graduated in 2000 from Bourne High
School where he played football and hockey.  He currently trains full-time
at USMMA putting in 25-30 hours a week of mixed martial arts, wresting,
boxing and strength and conditioning.  “I love it!  I have a new outlook on
training and my confidence is much stronger than it was three years ago,” he
said.  “My coaches at USMMA have taught me to be in great shape and that is
what makes the difference in the fight.  If you get tired first, you’ll
lose,” said Rebello.  “The motto at USMMA is ‘Make Your Best Weapon Your
Cardio” and that has worked for me.” he added.

The United States Mixed Martial Arts Training Center, located on Hartford
Avenue in Bellingham, focuses on elevating the physical and spiritual well
being of students through Mixed Martial Arts and Yoga. This is accomplished
through a four-pronged approach to reality self-defense training centered in
total body wellness.

The state of the art, 4,000-square foot training facility is complete with a
2,000-square foot padded MMA training floor equipped with heavy bags and
conditioning equipment, a 15 hundred-square foot yoga studio, locker rooms,
showers, a retail store and a juice bar.  USMMA also conducts kid’s programs
including birthday parties, hip-hop classes and summer camps.  To contact
USMMA, call 508-966-5006 or visit their website at www.usmma.org.

Unless you have lived on a remote island for the last few years or so you may not have noticed the most exciting sport to hit the circuit in a long time. Professional Boxing has killed fans long enough with the slow boring style along with the scams and fight fixing that has altered the sport. Now fight fans have an alternative and it is exciting, fast and modern leaving boxing knocked out so to speak.

So what is it? It is mixed martial arts more popularly known as Ultimate Fighting Championship aka UFC. At first this controversial style of fighting was shunned in many states and banned outright banned in others. The thought of two fighters beating each other bare-fisted was considered too barbaric. In fact UFC has since grown in leaps and bounds and has caught on like wildfire with the 35 and under group. It was officially labeled a sport and featured by Sports illustrated as the next best thing when it comes to sports. It has buried boxing in pay per view sales and legends of the octagon such as Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell have become household names.

With the surge in popularity it was only a matter of time before fight fans would be clamoring to bet on their favorite fighters.
